About

Welcome to Arthur A. Benjamin Health Professions High School!

Health Professions High School is named after Arthur A. Benjamin, a visionary leader whose enduring legacy is rooted in his commitment to preparing young people for careers in healthcare. After retiring as principal of Hiram Johnson High School, he pursued his dream of establishing a school dedicated to health professions and played a pivotal role in founding Health Professions High School, which opened its doors in 2005. Today, the school continues to reflect Arthur Benjamin's passion for Health and Medical Science education, equity, and service—empowering future generations to enter the healthcare field with purpose and pride.

The Mission

The mission of Arthur A. Benjamin Health Professions High School is to provide students with an anti-racist education rich with culturally-relevant academic, career, and leadership experiences while exploring health and medical sciences.

The Vision:

It is our expectation that Arthur A. Benjamin Health Professions High School graduates will be well-prepared to succeed in a broad range of post-secondary academic and professional pursuits due to exceptional skills in critical thinking, communication, and cultural competency. Over time, AABHPHS graduates will help to increase the diversity of health care leadership in the greater Sacramento region and thereby improve health outcomes for multiple underrepresented communities.
